Former Head of McHenry County’s Criminal Division is 3rd Generation at Law Office
McHenry County, IL- Today, Dan Wilbrandt, former Co-Chief of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office in the Criminal Division, begins his first day at Wilbrandt Legal, after more than 8 years in public service. He is joining the office as the 3rd generation of family members to work at the Crystal Lake law firm.
“It has been a privilege to serve the people of McHenry County at the State’s Attorney’s Office. I am especially thankful to our current McHenry County State’s Attorney, Patrick Kenneally, for the opportunity to lead the Criminal Division, and to former state’s attorney Lou Bianchi who taught me to always “do the right thing” and gave me an opportunity to grow and thrive as a prosecutor. I’d also like to express my deepest appreciation to all the men and women of the McHenry County Sheriff’s office and to all the local law enforcement officials I’ve had the honor of working alongside,” said Wilbrandt.
Today, working together, Dan and Larry Wilbrandt (Dan’s father) form McHenry County’s go-to full-service law practice for anyone in need of legal assistance. Larry Wilbrandt will continue practicing civil law including probate and estate planning, real estate, and business law. Dan Wilbrandt’s practice area will be focused on criminal defense, in addition to learning all areas of civil law from his father along the way.
Newly renamed Wilbrandt Legal (formerly Laurence A. Wilbrandt, Ltd.) continues as one of McHenry County’s oldest and best-regarded law practices. Following in the family’s tradition of practicing law in McHenry County, Dan Wilbrandt will be the 3rd generation in his family to join the firm. The firm was founded in 1972 by Wilbrandt’s grandfather, Robert A. Wilbrandt, Sr., after he retired as head corporate attorney for Marshall Fields. Robert Sr. began practicing law in McHenry County in 1945, helping local community families with real estate, wills, and probate matters on weekends. He was joined by his sons Robert A. Wilbrandt, Jr. and Larry in 1986, and the three worked together until 2006, when Robert Jr. became a McHenry County judge. Robert Sr. passed away in 2007. Larry has been operating the firm as a solo practitioner for the last six years.
Dan is joining the firm as of today and stands ready to help the residents of McHenry County with their criminal defense needs.
